Hitachi Yungtay Elevator Celebrates 60 Years: Launching Dual-Axis Transformation to Unlock New Value in Smart Buildings Strategic expansion targets high-end markets, diverse modernization schemes, and digital service upgrades.

Hitachi Yungtay Elevator held its 60th anniversary commemorative ceremony on July 9, officially announcing the launch of its dual-axis transformation strategy encompassing DX (Digital Transformation) and GX (Green Transformation). The company is focusing on three core areas: high-speed elevators, modernization, and digitalized services. This strategic move aims to comprehensively enhance brand competitiveness and high-end market value while continuously expanding its domestic market presence and revenue scale. Coinciding with its 60th anniversary, Hitachi Yungtay Elevator also announced that its cumulative shipments have officially surpassed 100,000 units, marking a significant milestone. Furthermore, with a maintenance portfolio exceeding 75,000 units, the company demonstrates its profound strength and brand influence in the aftermarket service sector. This achievement not only underscores that the company’s manufacturing capabilities, quality management, and service systems have reached a mature and stable stage of large-scale operations, but also further consolidates its market position as a leading brand in Taiwan’s elevator industry.

Tatsuhiro Koguchi, Chairman of Hitachi Yungtay Elevator, stated: “From Yungtay Engineering to Hitachi Yungtay Elevator, our 60-year journey of overcoming challenges has not only laid a profound foundation in Taiwan’s elevator industry, but also achieved our market leadership position today. Throughout this journey, we have consistently pursued excellence, continuously advancing our technology, products, and service quality.” Chairman Koguchi further pointed out that since joining the Hitachi Group, the company has fully implemented the “One Hitachi” philosophy. Starting from elevator manufacturing, the company has progressively expanded its business scope and promoted a strategic layout aimed at long-term value creation in the smart building sector. With the corporate vision of “Becoming Taiwan’s No.1 Smart Building Systems Company,” the company will drive continuous value creation for customers through comprehensive digital transformation and innovative technological applications, while deepening its contributions to social and environmental sustainability.

Aligning with the development direction of Hitachi, Ltd.’s Urban Solutions and Services Business Unit to address various challenges arising from urban development, Hitachi Yungtay Elevator will not only continue to provide elevator-centric building solutions but also actively integrate related technologies and services, such as air conditioning and energy. This initiative drives the promotion of the “HMAX™ for Buildings [Note 1]” solution portfolio, which embodies the Lumada 3.0 concept. Chairman Koguchi emphasized: “In addition to actively expanding into new smart building businesses, we will also continue to deepen the development of our core elevator business. In response to shifting market demands and industry upgrade trends, the company will maintain its focus on key areas including high-speed elevators, modernization, maintenance service upgrades, and digitalized services. By doing so, we will further enhance our technical capabilities and service efficiency, build a high-end brand image, strengthen our market competitiveness, and drive long-term, steady corporate growth.”

Yu-Shun Shen, President of Hitachi Yungtay Elevator, stated: “After officially joining the Hitachi Group in 2022, we have become an essential component of Hitachi’s global footprint. This represents not only an increase in corporate scale and international visibility but also means we must confront market competition with global standards. Against this backdrop, transformation is no longer an option, but an essential path for the company’s sustained growth. We must gradually transition from being traditionally product-oriented to becoming value-driven, service-oriented, and data-driven, thereby comprehensively elevating our corporate competitiveness.” Consequently, the company has officially designated “new installs (high-speed elevators),” “modernization,” and “digitalized services” as its three core future development areas, aiming to capture new business opportunities brought about by industry upgrades and urban development. Despite the real estate market adjustments projected for 2026 to 2027, the company’s operational performance remains resilient, with clear visibility for mid-to-long-term revenue. Moving forward, we will leverage the technical advantages and global resources of the Hitachi brand to actively expand our market share in high-speed elevators and premium buildings, while deepening our presence in major commercial complexes, iconic landmarks, and high-end residential markets. At the same time, through product upgrades, the integration of smart technologies, and continuous refinement of service quality, the company will consistently elevate its overall competitiveness and brand value to seize growth opportunities stemming from urban development and building upgrades.

President Shen pointed out that high-speed elevators represent not only cutting-edge technology and exceptional performance, but also a vital symbol of a brand’s technical prowess. Moving forward, the company will further elevate its premium brand image through its high-speed elevator product lineup, focusing on large-scale, high-value smart building projects to demonstrate Hitachi Yungtay Elevator’s leading advantages in technological innovation, quality reliability, and total solution capabilities. Regarding the elevator modernization market, President Shen stated that Hitachi Yungtay Elevator currently maintains a portfolio of over 75,000 units nationwide, with more than 17,000 units having an operating age exceeding 25 years. As Taiwan progressively enters an era of large-scale elevator replacements, market demand for equipment safety, reliability, and smart features continues to rise. This has led to a rapid growth in modernization opportunities, which will become one of the key drivers fueling the company’s future revenue growth. Grounded in its corporate responsibility to ensure elevator safety, the company will accelerate the implementation of aging elevator replacement initiatives. While maintaining stable growth in its maintenance business, Hitachi Yungtay Elevator will roll out diverse modernization solutions in its renewal business to provide tailored problem-solving solutions for every customer.

President Shen expressed: “Promoting the renewal of aging elevators is not merely about equipment replacement; it is an upgrade of the entire passenger experience and building value. What we aim to provide our customers with is not just an elevator product, but a safer, more convenient, and smarter passenger experience powered by Hitachi’s latest smart elevator technologies and digital management systems. Furthermore, based on the actual usage scenarios of customers, the company will tailor upgrade solutions integrating Hitachi’s latest smart elevator technology. This ensures that customers not only complete their equipment renewal but also simultaneously enjoy smart management, energy efficiency, and superior passenger experience. Through our differentiated advantages of ‘original factory maintenance’ and ‘real-time service,’ we will continue to build market trust and establish a brand value and competitive barrier that is difficult to replicate.” Looking to the future, Hitachi Yungtay Elevator will take its 60th anniversary as a brand-new starting point to further deepen its DX and GX dual-axis transformation strategies. By combining the Hitachi Group’s global resources and technical strengths, the company will create comprehensive solutions encompassing elevators, air conditioning, energy, and smart building management—joining hands with customers to march toward a new chapter in smart, sustainable, and highly efficient future urban development.
